Programs
The American Diabetes Association is the largest provider of summer camps for children with diabetes in the country and Camp Colorado is one of these fine camping venues! Camp is held at beautiful Eagle Lake camp in the heart of Pike National Forest. Located only 9 miles outside of Woodland Park, CO and a short distance from Colorado Springs, Camp Colorado is an idyllic summer camp setting. We encourage each camper to learn something new about diabetes management but never force education. At Camp Colorado we believe that each camper will take something away that is specific to their personal stage of development. We offer three separate camp programs; Residential Camp, Equestrian Camp, and Teen Challenge Camp. One is sure to excite your future camper!
Residential Camp (price includes $50 non-refundable deposit)
Cost -$540/ADA Members, $580/Non-members
Our residential program is the largest program we offer and is the picture of what summer camp is all about! We have space for 105 female campers and 108 male campers for a total of 213 spaces. Most of the campers stay in wood cabins equipped with bunk beds and small storage cubbies. The days are split between camp-wide group activities, cabin activities, and individual activities we call “skills”. You would call them archery, riflery, horseback riding, canoeing, swimming and many other activities typical of a summer camp program.
Each evening the campers assemble in the “Thunderdome” for unique after-dinner programming. This can be anything from a speaker or presentation to a live band and group dancing. All that really matters is that it is always fun and always entertaining!
Equestrian camp (Price includes $50 non-refundable deposit)
Cost -$655/ADA members, $695/Non-members ![]()
Equestrain camp is the perfect fit for girls ages 12-17 who love everything about horses. Campers in this program stay in cabins that are connected to the horse barn by a short and jaunty walk through the surrounding forest. They are supervised by a team of trained CHA- certified instructors.

Days are full of a number of horse related activites including stunning trail rides and skilled instruction on topics ranging from dressage to tack care. Meals and evenings are spent in the company of fellow rez campers and all equestrian campers have free time in the afternoons to enjoy the other aspects of camp as well. Don’t worry if you are new to the horse game; everyone is welcome! Space is limited to 12 campers so don’t wait to register!
Teen Challenge Camp (Price includes $50 non-refundable deposit)
Cost -$560/ADA members, $600/Non-members
So, you’re officially a teenager between the age of 14-17. How about a camp program designed specifically with you in mind? This camp is made to challenge you both physically and mentally while encouraging an “I can do anything” attitude. Campers in this program spend very little time with any of the other campers so you spend almost all your time with camper in your age group. With only 24 available spaces, you have the opportunity to create life-long, close knit relationships with your fellow campers.
Tired of archery and swimming in the lake? How about some new, more exciting activities. Typical Teen Challenge activities include half-day mountain biking and white water rafting trips, as well as rock climbing, rapelling, bouldering, and tunneling adventures. You also have the option of spending the evenings with the rez campers watching a speaker presentation or listening to a live band, or doing your own thing; maybe playing “Zots” or some other nighttime game. After all the fun retire to your tent nicely tucked away and further removed from the rest of the camp. Not to worry parents! Diabetes Counselors stay in tents nearby to prevent any Hi/Low mishaps
Challenging, maybe. Fun, absolutely!
